Dr. Flanum is a recognized leader in the treatment of disk herniation, spinal deformity, fractures and spinal stenosis as well as shoulder, hip and knee pain. Dr. Flanum was the first surgeon in Alaska to perform the minimally invasive IO Flex lumbar decompression. He provides treatment for the full range of conditions of the spine as well as sports medicine, joint replacement and fracture care.

Dr. Flanum’s training includes board certification in orthopedic surgery and fellowships in both spine surgery andﾠsports medicine. His served as chief resident of the orthopedic surgery program at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
