Following your procedure, ASISC nursing staff will provide you with a copy of your Discharge Instructions and will review those instructions with you and others designated by you. You should take this opportunity to ask any questions that you have regarding your post discharge and recovery care. You will be given supplies (i.e., dressings) necessary for use for 24 hours after your surgery. You must have a responsible person to stay with you after surgery including the night following.
In some cases, your provider may refer you to Alpenglow short-stay assisted living facility to help with your recovery. For more information on this facility, visit AlpenglowAlaska.com.
For your safety, as well as the public’s safety, ASC requires you to have someone to drive you home and stay with you for 24 hours after surgery. Some procedures, anesthesia and medications may impair your ability to drive safely or to do other things for a period of time following surgery. If you do not have a ride, or a caregiver for that period, your appointment will have to be rescheduled.
